Audience activation
Audience activation is the step that turns a data segment into a campaign: taking it to the platforms where media is bought so that it can be shown ads, excluded or measured.
An audience sitting in a spreadsheet or a CRM is no use for advertising. It has to be translated into the language of each platform: mobile advertising IDs, hashed emails, cookies or each system’s own identifiers. The segment is then loaded into a DSP or into Meta or TikTok custom audiences, or shared with a publisher through a private deal. Part of it is lost at every step, which is why the match rate is worth watching.
What gets activated matters as much as where. For Coca-Cola’s Coke Studio campaign, 014ON brought together young music fans based on their behaviour around festivals, from buying the ticket to the concert itself, and activated that group across display, rich media and other digital channels. It reached 1.5 million users.
