FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV)

FAST channels (free ad-supported streaming TV) are linear TV channels streamed over the internet, free for viewers and funded by advertising.

They work like traditional television, with a continuous schedule and ad breaks, but they are delivered by streaming. They are usually built into connected TV menus, such as Samsung TV Plus or LG Channels, or into services like Pluto TV and Rakuten TV. Many are devoted to a single theme or even a single series: cooking, true crime, soap operas, niche sports.

For advertisers they offer a way onto the big living-room screen with the buying and targeting of digital media. For content owners, they give their catalogues a second life. Their weak point is that audience levels and inventory quality vary widely from one channel to another, so they are best bought through private deals and with verification.
